You’ll enjoy the gorgeous ocean views from just about every room in our beach home. Sitting on the deck, listening to the ocean roar or rocking the day away on our front decks w/ sound side views, or from the tower. On a clear day you have a wonderful panoramic view all the way to the end of the island.

Enjoy great meals out, or cook in our gourmet kitchen, equipped w/ everything you’ll find in your own home kitchen, from my Belgium waffle maker to crock pots. Go exploring for shark’s teeth or seashells, or sit back and chill w/ a book, maybe catch a dolphin here and there, if you’re lucky! Or play a round of golf at North Shore Country Club, a 4-star golf course close by in Snead’s Ferry.

Check out the Turtle hospital, or if you’re fortunate, you’ll see a few baby turtles being born as they find their way to the ocean for the 1st time. At night, enjoy the solace of the moon, diamonds dancing on the ocean or bring your flashlight down to the beach and watch the little crabs frolic around on the beach.

Because our homes are located in the The Village of Stump Sound, community rules are in place to ensure the peace, serenity and enjoyment of all guests, residents and owners.

Our homes are nonsmoking houses. Pets are considered with a limit of two. Failure to disclose pets and pay pet fee prior to reservation date will result in forfeiture of your deposit.

Rules are strictly enforced and violations may result in fines or surcharges being applied against the property owners. If a rule is violated by a guest of the Flip Flop Inn or Pearl-by-the-Sea, any fine or surcharge applied will be passed on to the guest.

Parking

There is ample parking in the driveways and under the house. All vehicles must be parked only on Flip Flop Inn and Pearl-by-the-Sea property, not on roads or common areas. North Topsail Beach and Surf City have paid parking ordinances. Cars cannot be parked on streets and are subject to ticketing and towing. These ordinances are strictly enforced.

Boats and Trailers

Boats and trailers may only be parked UNDER the house. Parking boats or trailers in the driveway, on the streets or on community property is prohibited. Off-site parking must be arranged in advance for large boats and all RV’s.

Trash Collection

Trash is collected on WEDNESDAY AND SATURDAY mornings from April 1 through September. (Wednesdays only during the off-season). Recycle: WEDNESDAYS ONLY year-round. Trash pickup may be early morning, so trash receptacles MUST be put out on Tuesday and Friday nights. After trash pickup, trash receptacles must be promptly returned to an area of the property not visible from the street. Flip Flop Inn and Pearl-by-the-Sea guests are responsible for putting out and taking in trash receptacles.

Beach Dunes

New this year is direct beach access from the lower decks of the Flip Flop Inn and Pearl-by-the-Sea decks. These walkways are handicap accessible out to a 12×12 deck at the foot of the dune. Access down to the beach is not handicapped accessible (involves navigating a few steps down to the toe of the dune.

DO NOT WALK ON ANY PART OF THE DUNES. Dunes are essential to the protection of oceanfront homes from storms. We have erected sand fencing and planted sea oats to collect sand and stabilize the dune in front of the Flip Flop Inn and Pearl-by-the-Sea. Please restrict your crossover to the beach to the roped path. Playing on the dunes outside the rope access is subject to a $500 fine in North Topsail Beach.

Swimming Pool

The Village of Stump Sound community swimming pool is open during the summer months from sunrise to sunset. No more than 40 persons are allowed inside the pool area at a time. There is NO LIFEGUARD at the pool. Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult (21 or older) unless they have passed an American Red Cross intermediate level of swimming. Children who are not toilet trained must wear diapers and tight-fitting rubber pants or commercial swim diapers. We don’t want nuggets floating in the pool. Sand and salt must be rinsed off before entering pool. Please use the shower on the beach catwalk or at the end of the pool. There is no running or jumping permitted. Loud or offensive language or behavior will not be tolerated. Please do not play radios and other recording devices loudly. Offensive or unruly behavior may result in guests being evicted from the pool. No glass or food is allowed in or around the pool area. An emergency telephone is located at the end of the pool and a First Aid Kit is located next to bulletin board on the outside clubhouse wall. Pool is monitored by cameras.

Tennis Courts

Please honor a 1-hour time limit when others are waiting to play. Tennis shoes are required. No bicycles, scooters, roller blades, skateboards, etc. are allowed. Wheels can damage the court surface.

A copy of the Village rules is posted on the fridge and available in advance upon request.
