About Us

We have been married over 40 years. Bob graduated from the Virginia Military Institute and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Civil Engineering. Susan graduated from North Carolina State University with a degree in Business Administration. Our family bleeds wolfpack red since Bob also took graduate courses at NC State, both sons graduated with Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Engineering and one daughter-in-law also graduated from NC State. We have five gorgeous grandchildren. Throughout our married life we have dreamed of owning a beach property we could call our own. In 1996, we took the leap and purchased a plot of sand in the Village of Stump Sound in North Topsail Beach. It remained an empty plot of sand until 2005 when we built our dream retirement home and gathering place for our extended family. The Flip Flop Inn was born.
